Attention: DO NOT get involved with people who contact you in the lobby or any other space of the building than the 10th floor. These people falsely identify themselves as "consulate staff" and offer to help you with your application for a huge fee, more than twice the price of the actual visa! Please be aware of these false "consular functionaries".

Online Appointment System - Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai

Please note: ONE PERSON PER APPOINTMENT!

To make your visa appointment online, please follow the following procedure:

  • Click the word Calendar on the bottom of this page. 
  • If it is not possible for you to make an electronic appointment via the appointment system you can contact the Consular department via
    e-mail: sha-ca@minbuza.nl or by telephone +86-21-22087232/88
  • Click the preferred month.
  • Click the preferred day and time.
  • Fill out the registration form and click submit.
  • Within minutes you will receive an e-mail with a link to confirm your appointment. Click this link within 6 hours, otherwise the appointment will be cancelled.

Please note:

  • You can make appointments maximum three months in advance. 
  • You are advised to book an appointment as soon as you have decided that you want to travel and you know the travel date.  
  • During the busy period the appointment calender can be fully booked four weeks in advance.
  • The validity of your passport must exceed three months after departure from the Schengen territory, otherwise you can not make an appointment (also not by phone). 
  • For MVV application, the validity of your passport must exceed twelve months, otherwise you can not make an appointment (also not by phone). 
  • Your confirmation e-mail has a link to our website, where you can find all the specific requirements for the different visa-types and other important details.

To change or cancel an appointment, please do the following:

  • Send an e-mail to sha-vz@minbuza.nl  in which you mention your name, passport number, date of travel and time of appointment.
  • After receiving a reply that your appointment was cancelled, you can make a new one.

For group bookings (TRAVEL AGENTS ONLY) you have to book through the ADS link.

During the peak season for visa applications (starting as from April) the appointment system is fully booked and the waiting time for an appointment is 3-4 weeks. The Consulate regrets this inconvenience and has decided to create extra appointments for, 1.      applicants who apply for a BUSINESS VISA 2.      applicants who apply for a STUDENT (MVV) VISA How to apply? Please send an email to the following email address: sha-ca@minbuza.nl  with the details mentioned below: 1.      your name 2.      your passport number 3.      your travel dates 4.      the purpose of your trip (either BUSINESS VISA or STUDENT VISA) Based on this information the Consulate will decide if your application has to be dealt with immediately. In that case the consulate will inform you by e-mail when the visa application can be submitted.   All other travellers, who were unable to an appointment at the preferred day can also send an e-mail to sha-ca@minbuza.nl The consulate will make every effort possible to accommodate all requests but cannot guarantee that everybody can submit the visa application on the preferred day. Once the Consulate has received your application, your passport can usually be collected within 3 to 5 days, but once again: the Consulate cannot give guarantees.
